This 18.31 ct imperial topaz is graded IF. Internally flawless: loupe clean: no inclusions can be seen even under a 10x loupe.
A many-faceted cut with extra rows of facets above and below the girdle, often a hundred or more. The crowded facets bounce light around inside the stone and give a deep, shimmering sparkle, which is why the cut is chosen for larger stones.
Imperial topaz from Ouro Preto is the classic source for the golden, sherry-toned colour the variety is named for. Clean stones of this size are especially scarce, which is why collectors look for them. It is November’s birthstone.
