Sphene has more dispersion than a diamond, which is why it flashes orange, yellow and green as it moves. Zimbabwe produces clean, richly coloured stones, and this one is loupe clean with no heat and no treatment.

The fine step cut stacks long, narrow facets down an oval outline, so the fire comes in broad bands rather than scattered sparkle.
